DPS trooper hurt in wrong-way driver crash in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was injured in a crash with a wrong-way driver Saturday afternoon in Flagtaff.

According to DPS, at 3:39 p.m., Flagstaff dispatch began receiving reports of a red Nissan Rogue driving erratically, even on the sidewalk and almost hitting multiple vehicles on Milton Road.

A trooper located the car on I-40 and tried to contact the driver, but the car fled and began driving the wrong way on I-40 westbound near milepost 195. 

Another DPS sergeant in the area was involved in a collision with the wrong-way driver.

The female driver and juvenile passenger in the car were transported to Flagstaff  Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 

The sergeant was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

DPS said impairment has not been ruled out and the investigation is ongoing.
